We all have hopes and dreams and often times we’re doing everything right to turn them into a reality - it just takes time. The universe simply wants to bump you around a bit, and make sure your committed before it gives you what you want. Well, we wrote this song on a particularly bumpy day, when we were frustrated that “things” just haven’t happened for us yet. By the time we were done writing the song, we were happy again and could better understand the larger picture. Don’t stop running.
Ran myself to debt
Chasin down my dreams
Thought I’d make a million dollars
Before I slept out on the street
But here I am a drinkin
Sleepin on the floor
My dreams are up too far ahead
And I can’t run no more
My dreams are up too far ahead
And I can’t run no more
My legs have grown too weak
My lungs they heave and burn
But my minds racing backwards
Over things I never learned
Down and out and on my back
Guitar my only friend
I write this song to tell myself
To get back up again
I write this song to tell myself
To get back up again
But oh to my surprise
I told myself a hundred times
I’ll be fine it just takes time
For some dreams to realize
Don’t stop runnin now
Push on through the final round
Too many fall and hit the ground
Right before that buzzer sounds
Inspiration versus doubt
Are nearly toe to toe
It looks like this ones comin down
To the final blow
With black around my eyes
Blood drippin from my lips
I can only strike the strings
Hoping its a hit
I can only strike the strings
Hoping its a hit
But it had me on the ropes
Oh it nearly knocked me down
My doubt it was a punchin hard
The dream was fifteen rounds
Then fear decides to drop it’s glove
And show his ugly chin
My muse she throws an uppercut
To come in for the win
My muse she throws an uppercut
To come in for the win
But oh to my surprise
I told myself a hundred times
I’ll be fine it just takes time
For some dreams to realize
Don’t stop runnin now
Push on through the final round
Too many fall and hit the ground
Right before that buzzer sounds
